Photography and art from around the world.
Hello and welcome! Make yourself at home, look through my photo albums and have fun. My hope is that I have showcased an offering of things that will appeal to all walks of life. Everybody enjoys taking photographs including me, and when I hold my camera up I try to see not just the subject I am shooting, but life through their eyes. Please enjoy, tell your friends and come back often. Life around here will be a constant journey.
This is a collections of all things seen as abstracts. Winter time in my home state is very grey and dreary, and while this doesn’t lend to a lot of photographic opportunities, it does allow me to unleash a more creative side to my art. Everything in this collection started out as an actual photograph. I turned loose two processing programs I have, and through a hodge podge of filters, I manipulated photographs I had taken through the year that I considered to be sub-par. There are some in this collection you may still be able to see a semblance of the original subject, some may be completely reworked into something that has nothing to do with the original. I hope all will leave you pondering, ‘what the heck was that?’
This is a collections of all things flower related. I love flowers, and I am lucky to live very close to a botanical garden. I also live in a state that is known for it’s Tulip farming. With such a close and steady source of beauty at my fingertips, it is difficult NOT to stop and smell the flowers. Most of my subjects have been photographed in my own yard, the Bellevue botanical garden, Skagit Valley tulip farms or of course, wandering around through Central America. While you may not be able to experience the heady fragrance as I did, I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I did while photographing them.
This is a collection of all things buggy! Spiders, insects, bees, butterflies you name it, I love them. I have showcased a compilation of things seen in my back yard and Central America.
This is a collection of all things ‘herp’ related. My subjects range from the Pacific Northwest to Central America. My passion is Anuran’s (frogs) but I love snakes, lizards, terrapins etc as well. Some of these have been taken in the comfort of my own back yard, while others were shot while out kayaking, and still others while trapsing through the jungles of Central America. I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I did photographing them.
This collection is a grouping of misfits and photographs that didn’t quite clearly fall into a defined category. Some depict the natural abstracts of nature, while others are offerings of things that I just found ‘interesting’. They have one thing in common though….all are absolutely straight out of the camera with no added manipulation. I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I did photographing them.
This collection is perhaps one of my favorite. I simply adore dragon/damselflies…of all types! I live on a lake, with 2 retaining ponds behind my house. This may not mean much to you, but to the Odonates and me….well it means an absolutely perfect habitat to grow up in, and photograph. It is a little known fact that the actual creature you see flying around you in the spring and summer lived up to 4 years as an underwater nymph. The stage of life that we all know as ‘dragon’ lasts a few fleeting weeks for some, and for others only a few months. Starting in April, all I have to do is walk 20 feet down my yard to the waters edge, and I am immediately surrounded by up to 14 different species of dragons and damsels. This is a daily ritual of mine…seeking out a dragon to photograph, and you will find me engaging in this behavior until late October when the last dragons to emerge start to dwindle off. At this point, all I can do is sit and wait for spring, and the first signs of the nymph crawling out of the water onto a reed or blade of grass to start it’s amazing transformation. Ah….I love spring!
This is a collection of all things ‘bird’ related. My subjects range from the Pacific Northwest to Central America. I am lucky to live on a lake, so I have a steady stream of water foul and other birds that frequent my back yard. Most of my subjects were taken while sitting either in my kayak or my lawn chair. Those that were not, I managed to capture while wandering about in Central America. I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I did photographing them.
I stumbled upon ‘unda-de-wata’ the winter after taking a vacation in Belize. It was drab and dreary in my home state, so while I did not have a lot of photographic opportunities I turned my creative juices to photoshop. I started with an actual ‘photograph’ of an object, picked a particular color within that photo that stood out for me, and then started to play. I used a filter that allowed me to grab and drag out the colors, essentially turning my photograph into an etch-a-sketch. By dragging and pulling I was able to ‘draw’ with my fingers. I wanted to put together a colorful collection of drawings that showcased the wonderful marine life I had witnessed while boating and snorkeling on vacation. I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I did creating them.
